With all the well-publicized mishaps in the U.S. war against terror, we rarely hear about the efforts of the soldiers on the ground that are given the difficult task of actually engaging with and rebuilding war torn communities. The series titled, “Winning Hearts and Minds” is a chronicle of the 321st Civil Affairs Command in Afghanistan. This team is charged with challenging and critical responsibilities that include: restoring power grids and sewer lines, getting hospitals and schools up and running, and partnering with the local government to make everything happen smoothly. A tall order indeed…
